About Marquel- Writer, Speaker, and Guide for Life’s Unexpected Seasons
Big Decisions and Tough Transitions—Thoughtfully Navigated.
I’ve spent much of my life in spaces where decisions carry weight—homes, finances, and life transitions.
Somewhere along the way, I realized most people aren’t lacking options—they’re lacking clarity before they take the next step.
Writing has become a way to slow those moments down. To think more clearly. And to connect over the things we’re all navigating, whether we say them out loud or not.
I’m a Midwest-based writer, business owner, former attorney, and someone who cares deeply about people, community, and building a life that actually works—not just one that looks good on paper.
A space to rest in each moment of life
Life has a way of taking turns we never quite expected. Sometimes those seasons bring questions we didn’t see coming. Sometimes they stretch our faith in ways that feel impossible to work through in the moment. Sometimes they simply slow us down long enough to notice what God might be doing beneath the surface.
Over the years I have discovered that many women are walking through those same kinds of seasons. Seasons of waiting. Seasons of transition. Seasons where the future looks different than the picture they once had in mind.
This space grew from a desire to create honest conversations about those moments. The kind of conversations where faith meets real life and where encouragement feels like sitting down with a friend who really listens and sees you as you are. My hope is that whenever you spend time here, you leave feeling seen, encouraged, and reminded that even the unexpected parts of life can lead somewhere meaningful.
Author, speaker, momma, wife, friend, connector, entrepreneurA little about me
Hey there! I’m Marquel. I like to think I am an ordinary Midwest gal but fitting in has never exactly easy. Not odd but not usual either. I think deeply and love deeply but outside that there are walls I've spent years of therapy trying to break down to love those around me better by simply letting them in. Writing unveils a little piece of that, which I hope you can both relate to and find your own healing in.
I am passionate about being a good neighbor, supportive wife, and ever-learning mom and business owner navigating life after law on our new-to-us homestead in the Midwest. I love the idea of a slower life but have yet to master it with active involvement in local networking, coaching volleyball, and church engagements.
A few things you'll likely find here: references to personality tests (enneagram and sacred pathways are two of my favorites), boundaries, faith in an endlessly-loving Jesus amidst a messy world full of imperfect humans, motherhood after infertility, hosting and being a good neighbor, lessons from coaching, my dogs and future farm animals and perhaps a few homesteading experiments along the way.

Let’s gather together
One of my favorite things is connecting with women face to face and sharing encouragement for the seasons of life that often go unspoken. Through speaking at events, retreats, and gatherings, I have the opportunity to share stories of faith, waiting, growth, and the ways God continues to meet us in the middle of real life.
If you are planning an event for women and are looking for someone who will speak honestly, encourage deeply, and point people back to the hope we have in Christ, I would love to be part of that conversation.
